Tarahumara Hoop Drum
We are honored to showcase this exceptional piece of indigenous craftsmanship at the guild. This is an authentic handcrafted Native American hand drum, a beautiful example of a traditional Tarahumara hoop drum.
The construction follows time-honored methods, using a natural rawhide skin stretched over a solid wooden frame. What truly stands out is the traditional rawhide lacing, intricately tied in the crisscross diamond pattern that is a signature of master indigenous makers. Every element, from the hand-scraped membrane to the native wood frame, reflects the deep heritage and artisanal skill behind its creation.
It’s a heavy, high-quality instrument that carries a powerful presence, whether used for its intended purpose or displayed as a significant work of cultural art.
